Frederick J. Florka, age 75, passed away suddenly on February 19, 2026, at a hospital in Fort Myers, Florida, following a serious fall at home.
Fred grew up in East Detroit, Michigan, and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Central Michigan University.
Throughout his career, Fred dedicated his life to service and education. He worked as a juvenile probation officer, teacher, and electrical salesman for General Electric and other companies. He ultimately returned to the juvenile probation system, where he completed his career before retiring in 2015. That same year, he and his wife, Paula, moved to Fort Myers, Florida.
Fred was a loving husband to his wife, Paula; a devoted father to his daughters, Amy (Rob) and Katie (Stefano); and a proud grandfather to his cherished grandchildren.
He enjoyed playing poker and euchre, tennis and baseball, watching football, listening to rock and roll, playing pool and ping pong, and boating on Lake St. Clair in Michigan.
Fred will be cremated. A celebration of life visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home, 46530 Romeo Plank Road, Macomb, Michigan 48044.
There will also be a celebration of life at Pelican Preserve in Fort Meyers FL at a later date.
